Eskom/Municipal Electricity
This is where the electricity is generated and supplied to properties.
- Eskom or local municipality generates power
- Electricity flows to the property's main meter
- Property owner receives monthly bill from Eskom/Council
Main Meter / Property Owner
The main meter measures total property consumption.
- Installed by Eskom/Municipality
- Measures electricity coming into the property
- Property owner pays Eskom/Council for this usage
- Electricity then distributed to individual sub-meters
Sub-Meter / Tenant
The tenant's individual prepaid meter.
- Installed after the main meter
- Tenant "rents" electricity from property owner
- Measures individual unit consumption
- Tenant pays only for what they use
- Prepaid system - pay before using
Vendor / Mounax
Mounax manages the entire prepaid system.
- Receives money from tenant purchases
- Generates and provides electricity tokens
- Tracks all transactions and usage
- Refunds property owner monthly (minus service fee)
- Provides ongoing support and reporting
